The Triple Ejector Rack is a multi-station carriage and release system which enables up to 3 1,000 pound class stores to be carried at each station on a single aircraft pylon.
The Triple Ejector Rack is manufactured in its original TER-9/A configuration, and a “high speed” modification which is officially designated TER-9/A MOD.
The TER-9A uses electrically fired impulse cartridges (three total, one per rack) to generate gas pressure to operate the release and eject mechanism. Upon actuation, the rack release/eject mechanism forcibly ejects, or free fall releases, conventional stores up to 1,000 lb weight class from each station.
Each rack can carry stores with a diameter between 9 and 16 inches (with a maximum diameter of 18.6 inches when loaded single on the center station). Stores can be fired independently or simultaneously with ripple delay, and a firing order of center, left and right stations.
The TER-9/A strongback attaches to aircraft using 30 inch suspension and each of the three store stations has two tandem hooks which provide 14 inch suspension capability.
The TER-9A MOD adds an aerodynamically shaped nose cone to enhance drag coefficient and is covered with a radar absorbent material. Marvin Engineering has further modified these carriage and release systems with a “digital” switch which enhances safety and enables more precise interval releasing of munitions.
The Smart Triple Advanced Rack (STAR) is a Marvin Engineering initiative to enable the carriage and release of MIL-STD-1760 and MMSI precision guided weapons such as JDAM and SDB I and SDB II. This is a developmental item which is not yet flight qualified.
