The MAU-50/A is a light duty, dual-piston pyrotechnic ejector rack for carriage and release of stores up to 2,000 pounds. It offers similar performance to the larger MAU-12 and features 14 inch suspension with twin hooks.

The MAU-50/A uses electrically fired dual impulse cartridges to generate gas pressure to operate the rack’s release and eject mechanism. Upon actuation, the rack release/eject mechanism forcibly ejects, or free fall releases, conventional stores (this rack is not nuclear capable) and/or external fuel tanks up to 2,000 pounds with a diameter between 9 inches and 30 inches.
